Traditional laser diffraction based particle size analyzers have provided limited information on the details of a particle size distribution.  The AccuSizer 780 uses the principle of Single Particle Optical Sizing (SPOS) to count and size particles one at a time thus eliminating missed particles and providing accurate particle size and count information.

The AccuSizer 780 has the sensitivity and resolution to detect low levels of aggregates several standard deviations away from the mean of the distribution.  Often these aggregates are the difference between a good and bad product.  One independent study showed there was 1500 to 25000 times more sensitivity in detecting outliers than commonly used laser light scattering and acoustical sizing instruments. This sample sensitivity applies to other applications such as inks, pigments, drug emulsions, were a few large particles spell the difference between success and failure.

A series of patented high resolution, high sensitivity single particle optical sensors that cover a size range from 0.5 to several 1000 microns for both wet and dry applications is available.  All of the SPOS sensors have the sensitivity to detect single large particle outliers in a sea of smaller particles several standard deviations away from the mean.  They count and size particles one at a time so all signal profiles that are generated by the particles are events from a single particle.  These sensors offer the highest sensitivity and resolution of any automated particle size analyzer in the market today.
